john-terry-and-huddinkGuus Hiddink has batted off Manchester City’s continued interest in John Terry by stating he expects his captain to stay at Chelsea for the rest of his career, but has once again been forced to deny suggestions that his own time at Stamford Bridge will go on beyond the summer.

City’s continued attempts to splash around the cash of their new Arab owners has seen them set their sights on Terry but, much like their ambitious effort to lure Kaka to Eastlands, they have thus far been unsuccessful in adding any stellar names to their squad beyond that of Robinho.

City visit West London on Sunday on the back of continued reports that they have not thrown the towel in on their pursuit of the England captain but Hiddink is adamant that they should start looking elsewhere.

“I’m not in a position to think about that but what was stated very clearly, by the club and by John himself, who made a very clear statement, is that he is a Chelsea man,” he said.

“I’m not the money man here but he made it very clear, and the club made it very clear, that they want to continue forever.

“There are some players who are brought up within this club and it is difficult to sell them. For the economical part you need to speak to the CEO, but there is a kind of history with him – his statement was clear and the club’s statement was clear also.

“I can imagine that John Terry will stay until the end of his career. There is more than money there, there is his history with the club, which is important.”

The man brought in on the back of Luiz Felipe Scolari’s hasty departure continues to tow the same party line regarding his own future, dismissing suggestions that he will stay beyond May 30.

He added: “There is a good atmosphere of work here and we are very demanding of each other. If they are happy with the way we are working and it’s going well with results it’s all okay.

“I have been very happy, not just with the regular starters but with all the other players, who I’ve been watching and observing. Everyone is committed.

“But I made it very clear a few weeks ago – and again recently – what the future will be after May 30. I don’t have to do that again.”
